What is Graphite Kjeldahl Digester

Graphite Kjeldahl digester, also known as the graphite digestion apparatus, is a sample pretreatment equipment used in conjunction with the Kjeldahl nitrogen analyzer. It is mainly used for digestion of samples for subsequent nitrogen content determination.

Structure and Principle

Structure: It mainly consists of graphite heating block, heating control system, digestion tube bracket, protective cover and other parts. The graphite heating block is the core component with multiple digestion holes for placing digestion tubes; The heating control system can accurately control the heating temperature and time; The digestion tube bracket is used to fix the digestion tube, ensuring that the sample remains stable during the digestion process; The protective cover serves as a safety shield to prevent acid splashing during the digestion process.

Principle: By utilizing the excellent thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, and chemical stability of graphite material, the sample is mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid, catalysts, and other reagents, and placed in a digestion tube. The digestion tube is uniformly heated by a graphite heating block, causing the sample to undergo a digestion reaction at high temperature, converting organic nitrogen into inorganic nitrogen and generating compounds such as ammonium sulfate. This provides a pre treated sample for subsequent Kjeldahl nitrogen analyzer nitrogen content determination.
